STANDUP FOR LAGOS GROUP SHOW SUPPORT FOR THE LAGOS STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY

On Tuesday, 19th February, 2013, Members of the STAND UP FOR LAGOS GROUP staged a peaceful demonstration to the Lagos State House of Assembly to express their support and pass their vote of confidence in the entire honourable members and the leadership of the Lagos House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Sabit Adeyemi Ikuforiji. More than 3000 youths and adults came to show their displeasure against the attempts being made by some agents of mischief who alleged that the honourable members have abandoned their legislative duties because of their solidarity with Mr Speaker over the EFCC trial in court.
According to the STAND UP FOR LAGOS GROUP as expressed in their press release distributed at the front of the Assembly, no money is missing at the Lagos State House of Assembly and the allegation of embezzlement of funds has now being changed to money laundering by the EFCC for want of evidence after more three months of investigation by the EFCC themselves.
The group urged Lagosians to shun all sponsored protests and malicious publications against the Lagos State House of Assembly, saying that any attempt to do such by agents of mischief shall be vehemently resisted by the vibrant and progressive people of Lagos State.
Addressing the demonstrators, Hon. Saka Fafunmi thanked the members of STAND UP FOR LAGOS for their show of support and appreciation of the contributions of the House to the growth and development of Lagos State. He then urged them to remain peaceful and law abiding and also assured them that the Lagos State House of Assembly will continue to represent the genuine yearnings and aspirations of Lagosians.
